Jupiter Return Calculator

Enter your birth date and city to get the exact dates Jupiter comes back to its birth position, for all seven returns from about age 12 to about 83. For every birth date from 1900 to 2010, the first exact return fell between ages 11.3 and 12.0, and for 44% of people it comes in three separate passes.

Key takeaways

  • A Jupiter return is the day Jupiter reaches the exact degree it held at your birth, about every 11.86 years. The calculator finds every such pass for returns 1 to 7, your age on each, and when Jupiter enters and leaves your Jupiter sign.
  • Across 40,542 birth dates from 1900 to 2010, the first exact pass fell between ages 11.3 and 12.0 and the seventh between 82.3 and 83.6. A return is one pass or three, never two: 44% of first returns and nearly 70% of seventh returns are three.
  • Tested against the Swiss Ephemeris on 6,823 exact passes: 93% matched within 6 hours and 99% within a day.

What your result shows

Your result starts with Jupiter's position at your birth, its sign and degree. Everything else is measured against that one point. For each of the seven returns you get the exact dates Jupiter crosses that degree, your age on each date, and a window: the day Jupiter enters your Jupiter sign near that return and the day it finally leaves it, roughly a year later.

Line chart of Jupiter crossing one birth degree three times in 2026 and 2027, inside a window from June 2026 to July 2027
A real example: someone born on December 1, 2014 has Jupiter at 22°32′ Leo (at noon Universal Time). Jupiter crosses that degree three times, on October 18, 2026, February 7 and June 15, 2027, inside a window that runs from June 30, 2026 to July 26, 2027. Calculated by Numyra with the Swiss Ephemeris.

Whether you get one exact date or three depends on Jupiter's retrograde loop. Jupiter appears to move backward for about four months of every thirteen, the same illusion behind Mercury retrograde. If that loop happens right over your birth degree, Jupiter crosses it forward, back and forward again. We measured every birth date from 1900 to 2010: 44% of first returns and nearly 70% of seventh returns were three passes, and none was ever two. Many astrologers count the whole window as your return and the exact dates as its peak. For what the return is said to mean, see our Jupiter return guide.

At what age does each Jupiter return come?

Jupiter's tropical orbit takes about 11.86 years, so the returns fall near ages 12, 24, 36, 47, 59, 71 and 83. This table gives the measured range of the first exact pass for every birth date from 1900 to 2010 (40,542 dates, Jupiter at noon Universal Time), the same figures as in the guide.

The first return never reaches your twelfth birthday on its first pass: across all 40,542 dates it was exact between 11.27 and 11.96. A three-pass return can still end after the twelfth birthday, with a last pass as late as 12.6. The third and fourth returns (35.2 to 35.9 and 47.1 to 47.8) are the most dependable markers.

Who is having a Jupiter return right now?

Jupiter is in Leo from June 30, 2026 to July 26, 2027 and in Virgo until August 24, 2028. Everyone with natal Jupiter in Leo has a return in that stretch: for example people born July 16, 2014 to August 10, 2015 (first return, about 12), August 2, 2002 to August 26, 2003 (second, about 24) and August 18, 1990 to September 11, 1991 (third, about 36). Those ranges use Jupiter's position at noon Universal Time, so a birthday on the edge of one can fall either side. The Jupiter return guide lists all seven returns for 2026 to 2028.

How this calculator works, and how accurate it is

Jupiter's position comes from Paul Schlyter's published method, the same engine as our stellium calculator and Saturn return calculator, including the corrections for Saturn's pull on Jupiter. The calculator steps through every day from your birth to four years past your last return, finds each moment Jupiter crosses your birth degree, and narrows each crossing down to the minute. It all runs in your browser, so nothing you enter leaves your device. To check it, we ran the same code for 600 random birth moments from 1900 to 2010 and compared every exact pass of all seven returns with the Swiss Ephemeris:

The biggest differences come where Jupiter is almost standing still at a turning point, so a tiny difference in position moves the crossing by days. When Jupiter turns around within 0.1 degree of your birth degree, two programs can disagree on whether you get one pass or three; the calculator tells you when that applies. If you do not know your birth time, the calculator places Jupiter at noon and checks whether the start or end of the day would change your dates. Nothing is calculated past the year 2100, so a return after that is listed as such. Dates are shown in your device's time zone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my Jupiter return?

Enter your birth date, birth city and, if you know it, your birth time. The calculator finds the degree Jupiter held when you were born and every date it comes back to that degree, for all seven returns from about age 12 to about 83.

At what age is the Jupiter return?

Near 12, 24, 36, 47, 59, 71 and 83. In our measurement of every birth date from 1900 to 2010, the first exact pass fell between 11.3 and 12.0, the second between 23.2 and 23.9, the third between 35.2 and 35.9 and the fourth between 47.1 and 47.8.

Why does my Jupiter return show three dates?

Jupiter's retrograde loop can carry it back over your degree, so it crosses forward, back and forward again. 44% of first returns are three passes, spread over about seven months on average. A return is never two passes, and all three dates count as the exact return.

What do the window dates mean?

The window runs from the day Jupiter first enters your Jupiter sign near that return to the day it finally leaves it, roughly a year, because Jupiter spends about a year in each sign. Many astrologers count the whole window as the return and the exact dates as its peak.

Do I need my exact birth time?

Often not. For 87% of 300 random birth dates we tested, any birth time on the day gave the same passes to within two days. For the other 13%, the start and the end of the day gave a different result (a pass more than two days apart, or one pass versus three), and the calculator tells you when your date is one of them.

How many Jupiter returns will I have?

Seven by about age 83, and an eighth near age 95. The calculator shows returns 1 to 7 and marks any pass after the year 2100 as beyond its tested range, which applies to the seventh return of anyone born after about 2014.

Who has a Jupiter return in 2026?

People with natal Jupiter in Leo, for example births from July 16, 2014 to August 10, 2015 (first return), August 2, 2002 to August 26, 2003 (second) and August 18, 1990 to September 11, 1991 (third). Jupiter is in Leo from June 30, 2026 to July 26, 2027.

How accurate is this calculator?

We compared it with the Swiss Ephemeris for 600 random birth moments and 6,823 exact passes: 93% matched within 6 hours and 99% within a day, with a median difference of 1.5 hours. In 0.1% of returns the two disagreed on one pass versus three; those are the cases where Jupiter turns around on your degree, and the calculator flags them.
