Saturn is in Aries from February 13, 2026 to April 12, 2028, after a first, shorter visit from May 24 to September 1, 2025. It re-entered the sign at 7:11 p.m. EST on February 13, 2026 (4:11 p.m. PST), is retrograde from July 26 to December 10, 2026 and again from August 9 to December 23, 2027, and leaves for Taurus at 11:40 p.m. EDT on April 12, 2028. As of October 14, 2026 it is at about 10°31′ Aries, moving backward, and turns direct on December 10 at 7°56′. The dates below use the Western tropical zodiac in US Eastern and Pacific time.
Key takeaways
- Saturn is in Aries twice: May 24 to September 1, 2025 (99 days), then from February 13, 2026 with no further retreat to Pisces, so the 2026 to 2028 stay is 789 days without a break. First entry to final exit is 1,054 days.
- Saturn meets Neptune at 0°45′ Aries on February 20, 2026, the first Saturn-Neptune conjunction since 1989. Jupiter trines Saturn three more times (August 31, 2026, April 3, 2027 and July 11, 2027) and the North Node sextiles it on April 12, 2027.
- Your house for the transit depends on your rising sign: Aries rising has it in the 1st house, Capricorn rising in the 4th, Libra rising in the 7th (full table below).
- Saturn’s last stay in Aries was April 7, 1996 to March 1, 1999, and before that March 3, 1967 to April 29, 1969. The next is March 22, 2055. Of US births from 1994 to 2014, 11.5% (9.8 million) fell while Saturn was in Aries.
- Tradition places Saturn in its fall in Aries, the sign opposite its exaltation in Libra. That reading is symbolic, not a measured effect, and dates in this guide are for the tropical zodiac only.

Saturn in Aries: every date
These times come from the Swiss Ephemeris with daylight saving time applied where it is in force. An ingress is the moment Saturn’s longitude reaches 0° Aries (or 30°, the start of Taurus). We checked the four ingresses against NASA’s JPL Horizons service, which puts each within about two minutes of ours, and against the timestamps published by Cafe Astrology, which agree to within 40 seconds (their Eastern times for the same four moments: 11:35 p.m., 4:05 a.m., 7:11 p.m. and 11:39 p.m.).

The retrogrades last 138 days (2025), 137 days (2026) and 136 days (2027). Saturn turns retrograde for about 4.5 months every year (see the full 2027 retrograde calendar) when Earth overtakes it on the inside track and it appears to move backward against the stars; nothing happens to Saturn itself. Because the 2026 and 2027 loops only reach back to 7°56′ and 21°01′ Aries, Saturn leaves the sign only once, in 2025.

The loops mean Saturn crosses some degrees of Aries more than once. The first two degrees, 0° to 1°56′, are crossed three times: forward in May 2025, backward in September 2025 and forward again in February 2026. The stretches from 7°56′ to 14°45′ and from 21°01′ to 27°53′ are each covered three times too, forward, backward, forward. The rest of the sign is crossed once. A natal planet or angle sitting at one of those degrees gets three exact contacts from Saturn instead of one, which is why our Saturn return guide counts one-pass and three-pass returns separately.

Why sources give February 13 or 14, April 12 or 13
Articles list the re-entry as February 13 or 14 and the exit as April 12 or 13. All of them describe the same instant. Saturn reaches 0° Aries at 00:11 UT on February 14, 2026, which is still the evening of February 13 in the United States, and it reaches 0° Taurus at 03:40 UT on April 13, 2028, which is the evening of April 12. A site in London or Sydney rounds the same moment to a different calendar day. Some pages also describe the 2025 visit as the start of the transit and then give February 2026 as a second “start,” which is accurate but confusing; others mix up the years. If you are working with a birth chart or an event time, use the clock time in the table above and your own time zone, not the bare date.
Where Saturn is now and what comes next
On October 14, 2026 Saturn is at 10°31′ Aries and retrograde, moving about 4.6 arcminutes backward per day. It has about two and a half degrees to go before it stations direct on December 10 at 7°56′, then moves forward again through the degrees it has already crossed. The upcoming dates that matter, all in the tables above and below, are the direct station on December 10, 2026, the Jupiter trine on April 3, 2027, the North Node sextile on April 12, 2027, the Jupiter trine on July 11, 2027, the second retrograde on August 9, 2027, and the exit on April 12, 2028.

Which house Saturn in Aries falls in for you
The house is the area of life the transit touches. It depends on your rising sign (ascendant), not your Sun sign. This table uses whole-sign houses, in which each sign is one house counted from your rising sign. If you do not know your rising sign, our birth chart calculator works it out from your birth time and place, and the guide to Sun, Moon and rising signs explains the difference.
| Rising sign | Aries is your | Traditional area of life |
|---|---|---|
| Aries | 1st house | Self, body, how you present yourself |
| Taurus | 12th house | Rest, retreat, the hidden |
| Gemini | 11th house | Friends, groups, hopes |
| Cancer | 10th house | Career and public standing |
| Leo | 9th house | Travel, study, belief |
| Virgo | 8th house | Shared money, debts, deep change |
| Libra | 7th house | Partnerships and close one-to-one relationships |
| Scorpio | 6th house | Work routines, health habits, service |
| Sagittarius | 5th house | Creativity, romance, children, play |
| Capricorn | 4th house | Home, family, roots |
| Aquarius | 3rd house | Communication, siblings, short trips |
| Pisces | 2nd house | Money, possessions, values |
Aries rising is the special case, with Saturn crossing the 1st house, which astrologers describe as a stretch of testing how you present yourself and take initiative. Houses are themes, not forecasts, and what a transit means for any one person is a matter of interpretation. For how houses are drawn, see our guide to the astrological houses.
The planets Saturn meets in Aries
An aspect is a specific angle between two planets: 0° (conjunction), 60° (sextile), 90° (square), 120° (trine) or 180° (opposition). We calculated every aspect Saturn makes to Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and the true North Node while it is in Aries. There are nine, listed in US Eastern time.

| US Eastern | Aspect | Saturn at |
|---|---|---|
| Jun 15, 2025, 10:35 a.m. EDT | Saturn square Jupiter (Cancer) | 1°18′ Aries |
| Aug 11, 2025, 11:32 p.m. EDT | Saturn sextile Uranus (Gemini), Saturn retrograde | 1°12′ Aries |
| Feb 20, 2026, 11:52 a.m. EST | Saturn conjunct Neptune (Aries) | 0°45′ Aries |
| Mar 28, 2026, 6:09 p.m. EDT | Saturn sextile Pluto (Aquarius) | 5°10′ Aries |
| Aug 31, 2026, 6:17 p.m. EDT | Saturn trine Jupiter (Leo), Saturn retrograde | 13°41′ Aries |
| Apr 3, 2027, 8:59 a.m. EDT | Saturn trine Jupiter (Leo) | 17°08′ Aries |
| Apr 12, 2027, 2:44 a.m. EDT | Saturn sextile North Node (Aquarius) | 18°15′ Aries |
| Jul 11, 2027, 7:15 p.m. EDT | Saturn trine Jupiter (Leo) | 27°10′ Aries |
| Apr 5, 2028, 5:39 p.m. EDT | Saturn square North Node (Capricorn) | 29°05′ Aries |
The Neptune conjunction is the headline. Saturn and Neptune meet about every 36 to 37 years: the last time was 1989 in Capricorn (March 3, June 24 and November 13), and the next is June 7, 2061 in Gemini. This one is a single exact pass. Neptune itself first entered Aries on March 30, 2025, dipped back into Pisces on October 22, 2025, and re-entered for good on January 26, 2026; it stays until 2038 to 2039 (final exit March 23, 2039). Saturn therefore shares Aries with Neptune for its whole 2026 to 2028 stay. A Saturn sextile Uranus also fell on January 20, 2026 at 27°33′, but Saturn was still in Pisces then, and there is no further exact Saturn-Uranus or Saturn-Pluto aspect after March 2026 while it is in Aries.
The Jupiter trines are the ones that repeat, because Saturn’s loops and Jupiter’s own retrograde cross the same 120° angle three times. We list them with the rest of Jupiter’s transit in our Jupiter in Leo guide, and the North Node sextile is covered in North Node in Aquarius. For the slow planets sharing the sky with Saturn, see Uranus and Neptune signs and Pluto in Aquarius.
What Saturn in Aries traditionally means
Saturn is the slowest of the planets visible to the naked eye and the one astrology has long tied to limits, time, structure and responsibility. Aries is the first sign, ruled by Mars, associated with initiative, speed and the self. In the traditional scheme of dignities each planet is strong in some signs and weak in others. Saturn rules Capricorn and Aquarius, is exalted in Libra and, as Ptolemy explains in the second century, takes its opposite in Aries:

“Saturn again, in order to have a position opposite to sun, as also in the matter of their houses, took, contrariwise, Libra as his exaltation and Aries as his depression.”
Ptolemy, Tetrabiblos, Book I, chapter 19, trans. F. E. Robbins (Loeb Classical Library, 1940), via LacusCurtius
His reasoning is seasonal: the Sun is exalted in Aries, where the days lengthen and heat increases, and Saturn, the cold planet, is placed against it. William Lilly, writing in London in 1647, lists the same placement in English, “he receives his Fall in” Aries (he prints a sign symbol where we have the name), and describes the planet’s slow pace in terms astronomers still recognize:
“slow in Motion, finishing his Course through the twelve Signes of the Zodiack in 29 yeers, 157 dayes, or thereabouts”
William Lilly, Christian Astrology, London, 1647, chapter VIII, p. 57, via the Internet Archive
That is 29.43 years, which agrees with NASA’s figure of 10,746.9 days (29.42 years) for Saturn’s tropical orbital period. Astrologers who work from this tradition read Saturn in Aries as the planet of patience placed in the sign of haste: lessons about timing, self-reliance, carrying responsibility for what you start and leading without forcing. Writers who cover the current transit commonly add that it falls while Neptune is also in Aries, and describe the conjunction as dissolving illusions about identity and success. Others link past Saturn-in-Aries years such as 1996 to 1999 with cultural moments like the dot-com boom. Those are retrospective narratives, not tested effects, and nothing about the sky has been shown to cause events in a person’s life. Treat all of it as symbolism for reflection, not as prediction or advice. Our guide to essential dignities shows how fall and exaltation are scored, and the Saturn sign guide covers what Saturn in Aries means in a birth chart rather than as a transit.
Past and future stays in Aries, 1900 to 2100
Saturn takes 29.45 years to orbit the Sun by NASA’s count (10,755.7 days sidereal), so it visits Aries about every 29 to 30 years (the same cycle sets the Saturn opposition ages). We calculated every stay from 1900 to 2100 with the Swiss Ephemeris. A stay runs from the first entry to the final exit, and some include dips into the neighboring signs. The 1937 to 1940 stay, for example, started in April 1937, not 1938.
| Stay in Aries | First entry | Final exit | Length | Separate passes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1908 to 1911 | Mar 19, 1908 | Jan 20, 1911 | 1,037 days | 2 |
| 1937 to 1940 | Apr 25, 1937 | Mar 20, 1940 | 1,060 days | 3 |
| 1967 to 1969 | Mar 3, 1967 | Apr 29, 1969 | 788 days | 1 |
| 1996 to 1999 | Apr 7, 1996 | Mar 1, 1999 | 1,058 days | 2 |
| 2025 to 2028 | May 25, 2025 | Apr 13, 2028 | 1,054 days | 2 |
| 2055 to 2058 | Mar 22, 2055 | Jan 31, 2058 | 1,046 days | 2 |
| 2084 to 2087 | May 1, 2084 | Mar 28, 2087 | 1,060 days | 3 |

Dates are in UT, so a few fall a day later than US clocks. Stays are 2.2 to 2.9 years long; the 1967 to 1969 one is the shortest at 788 days, with no retrograde dip at either end. People born during a stay have Saturn in Aries in their natal chart. Of the 85.4 million US births from 1994 to 2014 (CDC and Social Security Administration data), 9.78 million, or 11.5%, occurred while Saturn was in Aries, which covers April 1996 to March 1999 except the months it visited Taurus in 1998. The other Saturn signs in that range:
| Saturn sign at birth | US births, 1994-2014 | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Pisces | 8,563,197 | 10.0% |
| Aries | 9,781,626 | 11.5% |
| Taurus | 9,376,225 | 11.0% |
| Gemini | 9,301,343 | 10.9% |
| Cancer | 8,826,490 | 10.3% |
| Leo | 9,237,023 | 10.8% |
| Virgo | 10,417,217 | 12.2% |
| Libra | 10,662,712 | 12.5% |
| Scorpio | 8,833,676 | 10.3% |
The shares are a bit uneven because each sign’s stay differs in length and because annual births changed over the period; Saturn’s position was taken from each birth date at 17:00 UT, and a handful of births near a sign change can land on the wrong side. Rows for Aquarius (January 1994) and Sagittarius (late December 2014) are partial and omitted. If you were born in one of these stays, Saturn is also doing something specific in your own life cycle: people born from 1996 to 1999 are in their first Saturn return now, those born from 1967 to 1969 their second, and those born from 1937 to 1940 their third. Our Saturn return guide gives the ages and who is affected in 2026, and the Saturn return calculator gives your exact dates.
After Aries, Saturn enters Taurus on April 12, 2028 at 11:40 p.m. EDT, and stays there until it enters Gemini on May 31, 2030 at 10:34 p.m. EDT.
Frequently asked questions
When does Saturn enter Aries in 2026?
February 13, 2026 at 7:11 p.m. EST (4:11 p.m. PST, 00:11 UT on February 14). It had a first, shorter visit from May 24 to September 1, 2025 and does not go back to Pisces this time.
How long is Saturn in Aries?
The main stay is 789 days, about two years and one month, from February 13, 2026 to April 12, 2028. Counting the 2025 visit, Saturn spends 888 days inside Aries over a 1,054-day span.
Is Saturn retrograde in Aries?
Yes, three times: July 13 to November 27, 2025 (it was in Pisces by the end), July 26 to December 10, 2026 (14°45′ back to 7°56′) and August 9 to December 23, 2027 (27°53′ back to 21°01′). It is retrograde on October 14, 2026.
When was the last time Saturn was in Aries?
April 7, 1996 to March 1, 1999, with a visit to Taurus from June 9 to October 25, 1998. Before that, March 3, 1967 to April 29, 1969. So yes, Saturn was in Aries in 1996.
When does Saturn leave Aries?
April 12, 2028 at 11:40 p.m. EDT (8:40 p.m. PDT), which is April 13 in UT. It enters Taurus and stays there until May 31, 2030.
When is the next Saturn in Aries after 2028?
March 22, 2055, with the final exit on January 31, 2058.
Why is Saturn in Aries called a fall?
In traditional astrology each planet has a sign of exaltation and an opposite sign of fall. Saturn is exalted in Libra, so Aries is its fall. Ptolemy gave a seasonal rationale, and it is a symbolic scheme, not an observed effect.
What is the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in 2026?
The two planets meet at 0°45′ Aries on February 20, 2026 at 11:52 a.m. EST (8:52 a.m. PST). The previous one was in 1989 and the next is in 2061.
Who is having a Saturn return while Saturn is in Aries?
People born with Saturn in Aries: roughly spring 1996 to early 1999 (first return), early 1967 to spring 1969 (second) and 1937 to 1940 (third). The exact timing depends on your Saturn’s degree; see the Saturn return guide linked above.
