Why Mercury stays close to your Sun sign
Mercury orbits inside Earth’s orbit, so from here it never gets far from the Sun. Using the Swiss Ephemeris, the greatest gap between them from 1900 to 2099 was 27.79°, less than the 30° width of a sign. That means Mercury can only be in the Sun’s sign or one of its two neighbors. Astrologers had the same limit almost four centuries ago:
